…Rewards of Perseverance

As we know, “trouble” can be years worth of drudgery.  But eventually, the patience endured to keep putting one foot in front of the other and sacrificing for others, does finally have its rewards. Someone in my family has finally been rewarded with the option to scale back his demanding life significantly, possibly to the point of early retirement by 9 years.  He has self-sacrificed for his family for over 38 years, retired from a military career and continued a profession in the highly competitive transportation business. Every precious time he was home, he was building, planting and fixing not only his own home and property but that of his neighbor as well.  He has given his wife, children and now his grandchildren all of himself, which with age, has been more difficult and painful – but he doesn’t stop. He has availed himself to his grown children’s complicated problems and supported them in any way needed. Finally, today, he received news that all his efforts and sacrifice to persevere and to always look forward is being rewarded. He admittedly was hoping for a small portion of relief, but he has been awarded a full 100%.   It’s fitting as he always gave 100% to everything in which he committed. Yes, he thanked God and he is supremely appreciative.

Lord Have Mercy,

Paula
