…I’ll Raise You One Kindness

Have you ever noticed trash on the side of the roads, walkways or in yards? How about when you are on a nature hike, walking over pine needle covered in the woods?  Trash seems to find itself right where you are. Someone could have carelessly tossed it out their car window, or it flew out of the back of a garbage truck, or a nocturnal animal tipped over the trash bin looking for food. Some of these acts are innocent and some deliberate.

Sometimes we come across people who show good intentions and others have a bit of trash mixed in their intentions and some are downright rotten. Like trash that corrupts our landscape, people can have that same effect. However, just like trash, the clean up tool is the same…kindness.  Whether a litter bug to the Earth or a rude person to a fellow neighbor, we still have the ability to rise above and check other’s actions. If someone tosses 2 cans, we can pick up 4 cans. If a person makes a snide remark about someone, make 2 positive responses back. It’s not check and balance – it’s check…and I raise you one.

Being polite takes no effort and it’s especially easy when you start with being nice. You have the advantage.

Pax,
