…Open Wide The Door

I love this picture. When I first started working at the Catholic church in town, I placed this image as my desktop background screen. I wanted to start my day and finish my day being reminded of it’s message.  The pastoral associate who worked with me at the same time, and a good friend, pointed out the significance of the photo, which I had initially overlooked. The fine detail, that upon first glance, is hardly noticed.

We think the priority of the story is Jesus knocking on the door, perhaps to visit or remind us that He is always within reach however the unseen action is whether or not the person will open the door to let Jesus in.  Because, as you can see, there is no door knob on the door. We must let Jesus in. We must use our own free will to open that door.

God is always there waiting and knocking to all.  We must invite the Lord into our home, our lives, our jobs, our relationships, our free time and especially our hearts from where He dwells.
