…The Living Bread
Reflections from one year ago:
One brisk morning back in April 2013, my best friend and Confirmation sponsor Katie and I had gone away for a weekend “down the Cape”. We were celebrating my recent Confirmation at the Easter Vigil. It had been an adventurous 7 mos of meetings, questioning, purging, and revelations of quite a few personal mysteries, as well as wonderful spiritual growth. While we walked and chatted about God along the ocean’s edge, I was snapping pictures of the landscape with my cell phone.
Katie questioned “Why do I have to go to church, Jesus is everywhere and when I want to pray, I just do.” I replied “Yes, that’ true. Maybe, you could think of church as when you want to see someone or spend time with them, you go to their home.” Church is community.
No less than 30 minutes later we were sitting at Dunkin’ Donuts and as I waited for her to get her order, I was sliding through the photographs taken earlier. I came across this picture and with a big smile and wide eyes I said “Um, Katie, here’s the answer to why we go to church”…
Just like manna from Heaven, He sends down the answer. The Word is sending the word “EAT” in the spray of clouds:
