…Did Your Heart Skip a Beat Today?

During my 4th child’s Confirmation.  I began to tear up as the kids were being sealed with the Holy Chrism Oil but of course, the tears flowed when it was my daughter’s turn.  I understand how Holy this sacrament is to our faith and how happy God must be in these moments.

The celebrating bishop shared many poignant and humorous insights with the Confirmation Candidates.  He helped them realize that they don’t have to know everything right now and that it’s ok to question.  He just asked them to keep their heart open to God.  Keep their heart open to Him and all the good things He has planned for their lives.

It was a very beautiful and non threatening invitation for these young people. He also lovingly reminded them about God’s unrelenting and unyielding love that He has for each of them.  He stated that as they live their life, they may make mistakes, they may get out of touch with Christ or for that matter, may completely turn their backs on God…but to always remember that regardless of what happens, God will always be there to take them back.

As Christians we realize some believers will soar, some will coast and some may fall directly off the path.  What we also know and believe is that none will ever be lost to God.  He knows exactly where we are, who we are, and who we are to become.  Jesus was celebrating with us today. His grace flowing amongst the faithful baptized and even their guests.

Perhaps someone heard His call directly.  What I do know, is that even a questioning heart may have skipped a beat today.
