Why is it difficult to receive a gift or a gesture of love?  Why does it seem so undeserving even when it’s deserving? Is it because it’s wrapped like a gift? Is it because we think there could be a reciprocal expectation?  It is so much easier to give a gift or show love or kindness – but to receive it, we must change gears to humbleness. For some, it is difficult, for others – a pleasure.  They know they are giving the giver an opportunity to be happy and pleased with their ability to show how much they love or care for the other. Remember when we accept a gift from others, whether of love or thoughtfulness, or of gentleness such as a heartfelt hug or smile, we give the bearer the opportunity to feel joy, show love and feel connected.

God continually offers His pure unadulterated love with no expectations. It is pure joy and pure love, complete and total acceptance. It is we that have difficulty grasping these concepts.
