Reflection from one year ago:

During my years through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, I began placing an open Bible in my home’s foyer. It’s placed on a stand near the front door so it’s clearly visible when people enter or exit and it’s seen when we walk down the steps from the second floor to the first floor.  I will randomly choose various books or chapters, there is no rhyme or reason. I literally close my eyes and allow my fingers to start and stop the selection. It’s purpose is an invitation to everyone to take a peek and see if that particular Scripture speaks to them. I don’t monitor its use but have had visitors acknowledge the presence of the open Bible. I hope that it first brings recognition and knowledge of the type of home and it’s inhabitants but also an invitation to stop and peruse the Words of God.  You just never know when or what God is placing on one’s heart.
